READ & DOWNLOAD Dog House A Love Story CHARACTERS Ú MUABANBATDONGSAN.CO ✓ Carol Prisant Carol Prisant ✓ 1 FREE READ Dog House wasn't supposed to be a book about love It was supposed to be a hugely funny account of the dogs in Carol Prisant's life And not just the dogs but that first bird she found at Woolworth's the monkey that fell in love with her husband's leg the thankless tiny turtle and the goldfish her pet challenged mother flushed down the toilet Somehow though this stra Dog House is a book about love Really Well I ll be damned If this is what love is I ve been misinformed my entire life I wonder if the authors dogs would agree Prisant wanted to write a dog story But Prisant isn t a dog person What does one do in that case I know They pretent to be a dog person It can t be all that hard right Right and wrong Right because someone like Prisant a fellow non dog person by this I don t mean someone who hates dogsanimals but someone who isn t an actual dog person like the people who lead lives revolving around dogs people who place importance on dogsanimals than just another thing they own people who go out of their way to try to make the world better for dogsanimals etc someone like Prisant will probably think she did well here Wrong because the people targeted by this book the dog lovers will see that this is nothing by a smoke screen I haven t read any reviews here since I started and didn t finish this but I think I remember someone saying something to the effect of you can t fake being an animal lover This is so very true It s in you It s around you it s everywhere spilling out of you At all times You can be mad at the world and just an irate person one day and still there in you is that special something that makes you an animal lover This just cannot be faked Someone forgot to tell this to Prisant There are a number of places I checked off in the book that I wanted to mention but I ll only include them from the first part Maybe up until about page 70 or so I only read until page 90 about because I couldn t take any It s that bad And I don t just mean from the dog people perspective it sucks all around I was shocked when I turned to the back cover and found that Prisant has not only previously written three books but is an editor and has also written for The New York Times and Martha Stewart Living among others I m almost rendered speechless If that can happen then I m wasting my life because I could be an award winning author in my spare time Anyway let s get into the book shall we These will be little things big things about exact situations in the book about the bookwritingauthor etc Page 15 the author buys a bird She s an adult by the way not a toddler or anything I felt the need to put that out there She buys a bird in a pet store The birds toes start falling off One at a time Finally all of the birds toes have fallen off and what does Prisant do Next to nothing She goes to the store where she bought the bird and asks what she can do She doesn t go to a vet Correct me if I m wrong but isn t there an entire profession out there devoted to handling sick and hurt animals Wouldn t an animal lover seek medical attention for said animal at the first sign of serious trouble At the store the employee tells her to call a vet So someone actually told her to call the damn vet Did she No Bird died Case closedPage 17 The oh so intelligent Prisant then buys a monkey A freaking monkey Why you ask I ll tell you why Because she wasn t ready for a dog yet Direct uote from page 17 second sentence She wasn t ready for a dog So she buys a monkey I m trying to think of something hilariously sarcastic but I m coming up with nothing Total blank That s not easy for me Okay monkey gets returned soon because she of course knew nothing about caring for monkey s did no research bought a living breathing feeling animal on a whim with no concern for the animal and while only thinking of herself Monkey gone Case closedPage 18 she talks about her husbands interest in missiles and she actually says and this is another direct uote my fellow book readers while I waited for a Thor or Atlas missile to blow up They weren t meant to blow up of course but in my darkest heart I unfailingly hoped they would It was always a much better show than a successful launch Well yes That s a perfectly normal thing to think and say Sure She named her kid Barden Need I say Next animal She buys a turtle and proceeds to let it go in a local pond Now I had two red eared sliders I had to re home last year because we were moving and they couldn t come I also have ponds near me But I didn t let my turtles who have lived in a tank their entire lives being hand fed with no enemies go in a pond to fend for themselves No I actually gasp went out of my way posted a notice in the paper and elsewhere until I found a good home for them Then I actually went to the home talked with the people made sure they knew everything I knew about them answered uestions exchanged info etc Because those turtles are living breathing animals and not sticks Turtles gone Case number I forget ClosedPage 29 stray dogs didn t really exist any Tell that to the thousands of dogs and other animals in this country alone who need homes Prisant Please tell that to them Because you make no freaking sense to your fellow humans wtf She gets a new dog and is deemed the World s Best Mother She makes a big deal out of this Another author wouldn t have mentioned it even and if they did it wouldn t have been as Prisant did I got the distinct feeling that was the why of how this dog came to live in this household Pages 29 30 a contradiction Page 29 lets us know that Barden good God doesn t remember anything about Tippy Page 30 just a few paragraphs later tells us What he does remember is the day he came home from school about a month after we got the dog and was told in the gentlest fashion that Tippy had run away Okay there are a number of comments from me here the first being the blatant contradiction Do I need to say that if Barden does anyone else think of the word barf when they seehear that name didn t remember anything about dear little Tippy he wouldn t be remembering the dog leaving Do IShould I get into the whole lying to your kids thing No OkayI ll leave that alone Prisant didn tcouldn twouldn twas too stupid to train Tippy so what happens to little Tippy Prisant called the SPCA to pick him up Yup that s a dog lover in my book The precise definition actually Prisant s stupid smiley face should be right next to the term the world overPage 33 we re led to believe that since Prisant is drawn to Dog Fancy those dog calendars and because she read How to Be Your Dog s Best Friend The Classic Training Manual for Dog Owners she s a dog lover To hell with letting domestic animals into the wild and letting pets die because we re too stupid to get them help To hell I say with having a puppy for two weeks and not training it and then letting the SPCA pick it up This ladies and gentlemen this this a true dog lover Prisant is smarter than us all Oh here s two pretty good one s Page 40 Prisant talks about her husbands lack of attention to things relating to her Surprise surprise can anyone blame the poor bastard So she sums it up here It wasn t that he had no taste It was just that he didn t see Beauty Which if you think about it is a good thing in a husband There are a handful of things I could say about this but I ll leave it up to the readers of this review to take of it what you will I thought it was mighty telling of Prisant myself Here s something that I think also tells a lot about the author Also on page 40 She wanted to buy and sell antiues or some load of crap so she borrowed some money added in a few bucks of her own yada yada yada and needing money I suppose she sold the much appreciated and sentimental box of gold and semiprecious stones that was a gift from her father This had been owned by her father and his father and had been passed down to her Very telling indeed Let s just be clear this wasn t sold to pay for emergency surgery or anything It was sold because she didn t give a suirt of piss about it Here s another good one on page 61 The dog who knows which one at this point didn t like the rain So one night she forces him outside and makes him stay out there in the rain he hates to prove her point This upsets little Barfbag so much that he also goes outside to sit with his dog Prisant s thoughts I think I m proud to say that I lasted a full ten minutes before opening the door That certainly is something to be proud of That is some sad shit right there If it was meant to be humorous and I don t think it was it failed miserably On page 62 a dog has a bump on it s nose and Prisant wonders if it was the vets fault She doesn t get a second opinion doesn t do anything a normal person would do She writes that it looks as if the dog pressed his nose up against a chain link fence for days and ages and eons First the dog was boarded for exactly a week according to the author How is that ages and eons Jesus I can t say how bad her writing is The sentences are flimsy at best and most if not every single one of them have entirely no meaning at all They re just there taking up air an entire book of filler On page 63 we have another contradiction when Prisant writes the italics are mine first These days I wonder how I could ever have been shocked as I once was to see a woman kissing her dog The next paragraph starts like so To tell the truth though I d never seen anyone kissing any sort of animal Well which the hell is is Prisant I mean listen this is one of the downfalls with pretending and lying You have this sort of thing to deal with It s the next freaking paragraph for the love of GodShe tried to add in a few dog jokes and again she fails so badly Pages 76 77 she goes to get ice cream and and when she was asked if she wanted sprinkles for the dog vanilla ice cream she said No sprinkles It s for the dog She s driving Hardy fucking har Another joke if it can even be called that Page 79 Prisant had a threesome her word in a pond and she named them May Nage and Trois That s what the humor consists of That right thereI m finished because I only got a few pages farther than where I m leaving off now In conclusion I ll say this if I was Barfbag or Prisant s husband I d be awfully embarrassed For myself for my family and for her Actually mortified if a better stronger wordShe should have just let this idea fly right out of her head right after it flew inI ve said this before mostly in relation to some of this shittier urban fiction out there but I d be so ashamed if my name were on this So so ashamed I will admit I m wondered if her writing is always this bad or is it just because she isn t truly a dog person and was having to pretend If I cared I d try to pull an article or two that she s written but frankly I don t want to look at her face see or hear her name or anything she s ever written or hear of this book ever again If you re looking for a good to great dog cat or other animal
